Dear Friends of the German Settlement of St. Croix County,

This may be considered the first issue of German Settlement UpDate since we were officially incorporated and certified in April 2006. Our society is one of over 360 affiliates of the Wisconsin Historical Society. According to our articles of incorporation, the purposes of this organization are primarily educational and shall be to preserve, advance, and disseminate…knowledge of the history of the German Settlement of Hudson, Troy, Kinnickinnic, Warren townships of St. Croix County, and surrounding areas.

Our bylaws also states that we shall encourage our members to attend the Annual Regional Conventions. This year’s convention will be hosted by the Jackson County Historical Society in Black River Falls on Saturday, August 19. It is a chance to meet people with similar interests – to see and learn what other societies are doing to preserve their treasured heritage. We will also share the unique things that we are doing and planning to do. I’m interested in seeing their historic places, museums, murals, timber and cranberry industries of the past. We hope you will be able to join the event.
